Roundabout Driving Tips

Many accidents happen at roundabouts. Why? Simply because it’s not common and most people don’t know how to drive around them. Even people who already have gotten their Singapore driving license may still not fully remember how to drive around a traffic junction such as the Novena roundabout.

Hence, make sure you a roundabout well and not commit mistakes.

The following is a video animation showing the various circumstances which may occur when you enter and drive into a roundabout and the things you need to take note of.

Additionally, a roundabout does not have traffic lights to guide people, hence you need to memorize how to navigate and drive safely in such a situation by learning from a good school or private driving instructor in Singapore and remember the driving skills well.

I hope you don’t find the above task too daunting. In Singapore, there may not be many roundabouts in reality, however for other countries, there may be quite a number of them. Hence, you need to learn properly if there is even a small chance of you wanting to move overseas and drive on the roads there – as Singapore’s driver license is an international one, you should make good use of your driving lessons here and learn properly so that you can hit the road driving when you go to another country and navigate all sorts of road junctions with ease!

How To Drive And Park Your Car Properly

Parking may be one of the hardest things. In fact, I used to think that parking is peanuts. That driving would be harder – I was wrong. When you’re driving, it’s easy to move and steer intuitively to a great extent. However, when it comes to parking, other cars or obstacles are close to you and there is no room for error or to correct your mistake even though you’re moving at slow speed.

However, it is easy when you listen to the above video and assimilate the above driving lessons with the tips dished out to you by your driving instructor in Singapore.

One tip though: When you learn driving, your driving instructor usually gives you very mechanical steps for parking such as turning 3 times to the left then turning 2 times to the right and e.t.c. The driving instructor will also tell you to adjust your sideview mirror to park the car properly. In reality, however, you do not do that and depend more on intuition (though this is after you get the basic mechanics down) and you also do not constantly adjust your side view mirror. That’s the key difference and was initially one of the hardest points for me to get used to when I first drove after I got my SIngapore driving license.

If you want to learn more about driving, then get your lessons from private driving instructors – they are cheaper and equally professional. Why not right?

Driving Lesson 101: How To Make A 3 Point Turn

3 Point Turns are one of the hardest turns and requires great coordinating of your hands and eyes. You will need to turn the wheels swiftly, going on slow mode, and checking the surroundings. U turns are probably straight forward with one complete steerling of the wheels, but 3 point turns requires 2 opposite complete steerling of the wheels.

You can get a good private driving instructor here to coach you well. They will be able to teach you how to navigate around such a tight cornering.

One of the biggest difference you will find when learning how to perform a three point turn in Singapore during your driving lesson is that within the circuit, the ‘three point turn’ looks vastly different from a real one. This is because within the circuit such as the one at Singapore Ubi, there is a carpark lot for you to reverse into and change directions. In reality, there is seldom enough space for that, and is much tighter and no such thing as a ‘carpark’ space for you to reverse into for performing a three point turn.

Thankfully, with the advent of the Internet, you can easily learn such driving skills on the Internet to quickly supplement whatever your private driving instructor is teaching you in Singapore so that you can learn! Properly!
